HP Printer installation

Well, it's been a while since my last post. So a couple days ago My girlfriend buy a new HP Deskjet D-1660 for her business. She's running a kubuntu 10.10 with latest update on her EEEPC - 1015P. And the problems begin.

Problem
- Printer detected but can't print any page

I was curious that it caused by some buggy stuff in KDE and then try to run Live CD Maverick and test the printer. It works like a charm, and then we install maverick and get rid of kubuntu. After finish installation and do major update, the printer recognize but suddenly it face a same problem like in KDE.

Solution.
- Gnome
go to printer setting and then try to change the "connection" choose "cups" instead the first one. I'm a little bit forgot sorry if it's not exactly right.

- KDE
Open Konsole and then type the command

# hp-setup

If it ask for dependency, try to install it first. It's between Python and QT stuff. After do the HP Setup following the GUI guide and it will add your printer automatically and do the job ^^.

Unfortunately, the printer can't work on chakra and also in other KDE 4.6 Beta 1. So don't even waste your time to try it ;)
